In case of Include directive if the main jsp is changed then the
servlet is regenerated but if the included jsp is changed then the
container my or may not regenerate the servlet."

with out regenerating the servlet how can container produce the output
reflecting the changes

It would have to regenerate the servlet.

A lot of containers look for updates in the included files as well as the parent files (I know recent versions of Tomcat do).



[addition]
If you use the include action <jsp:include.... /> the output of both the parent and included file get run separately at run time. The output from the two is merged.
