Hi Namrata,

I'm Praveen. I have worked with eGain in the past. They are product based company working on call center/CRM products. They have a good reputation in the market in their area of work. They have around 200 people in Pune. Workwise, they had one/2 projects apart from their product, and i was working in one of the project. But their main work is product based.

Overall i had a good experience working with eGain.

Praveen

Service company is better. You will in different projects, different technologies and more onsite opporunities. If you are in a product development company you will only know the product and nothing but the product.

So whats wrong in that?Having indepth knowledge in one is better than list of 100 technologies.Right?

This in depth knowledge is not useful outside the company.

I see it as an advantage. In services once the project is over you have to start again from scratch in the new project, whereas in Product based, your experience always accumulates ... isn't?

I think in services company you have good oppurtunity to learn the Software development Life cycle for the first time but chances are higher that you end up doing projects that are very similar to each other many times
you waste lot of time doing the same thing from different clients
may be cutting and pasting the same code in the name reusability...
This is the case may be 65-70 % of the cases

With product developement you start with a new idea and may be new architechture head on ...
you have new bugs...
Whatever modifications you do to the product while its operation happen to be something to think about

You happen to grab a company which could launch or modifies products frequently they you learn more ..

Well thats what i have to say about this topic!!
