Do you mean in a HTML sense such as header tags?

hi Faulkner,

i just crossed the below set of lines and not able to get what the noncontainer elements meant by...

Syntax for jsp:xxx elements differs in three ways from HTML syntax:
attribute names are case sensitive,
you must enclose the value in single ordouble quotes, and
noncontainer elements should end the tag with />, not just >.

The non container tags means which doesn't contain anything between their start and end tag. like <img> is a non-container tag.

The point here is that non container tags should include the closing slash.
<img />

as apposed to containing tags
<td>some stuff</td>

All tags should really abide by the rules mentioned above, but in HTML you can get away without using them. However in jstl tags you must code your tags correctly.
