Hi, thanks for your reply. But I don't understand what's the tag used here. As far as I know(did similar project 3 years ago), there are some kind of classes could be used to retrieve the html file from a given URL.
But,I don't quite remember now. So anyone can give me a hint?

What do you mean when you say "retieve" an HTML file?
Are you just trying to view a webpage?
If so, just create a link to it.

Please explain what you are trying to do?

i m going to get the html file as a string or stringbuffer, and do futher processing, such as extracting links, etc.

Ah, you want to "screen scrape".

Check out the openConnection() method of java.net.URL.
