Hi All,
Can somebody put more light on this company. It is a small company taking up consultabcy services for major UK companies. It also has a base in Banglore. Can anyone from Banglore provide me with more info. I have to give feedback about the reply soon.

They are offering me immediate UK assignment for 3 months, accomodation provided. For this they are offering me 1000 pounds. Condsidering this how should I consider the offer. Anyone from UK can put more light on this. I think they have their offices in Slough UK. I am in a dilemma.

Hi Vikram,
1000 Pounds is too less for a UK postion. Slough is not far from Southhall where u would have no problems adjusting considering lot of indian shops and restaruants there. minimum wage should be around 1500 pounds+
cheers,
Sac

southall is a dump http://www.ealing.gov.uk

so they are gonna pay you 330UKP/mo for working in the UK? that is a joke. It will probably cost you more than that to commute each month.

Quite a few computer software and telcom companies have a base in Slough.
Southall is another town altogether - Little Bombay as it's referred to at times.

Lets try to find a brighter side Vikram,

1. They are providing you accomodation. so u need not worry about paying for that.
2. U need to spend on your meals etc/entertainment. Say you need 500 pounds for it. Or say 700. And save 300
3. Its a 3 month assignment. So 300*3 = 900 pounds as saving in 3 months flat.

So u earn,
1. A foreign trip, if u have not been out of India.
2. U can mention onsite exp on resume
3. u get some not-sooooo-bad saving in 3 months

What do they mean by accommodation? A furnished flat where you provide your own meals? Bed and breakfast hotel? Hotel with all meals provided?

Renting a furnished flat would cost you somewhere around 600. Living expenses, say, 500-600 per month. With your flights and expenses paid it seems like a decent enough deal given that if you get too expensive it starts to make sense for them (God forbid!) to hire a local. If you are paying your own expenses then there would seem to be a bit of room for negotiation. Point out to them that it is always more expensive to live away from home, you always end up spending more because you are in an unfamiliar environment and that you are concerned that expenses may overtake your earnings. They may have a tax advantage in offering you a daily expense allowance.

How far you push may depend on how expert you are in the job they are hiring you for. If you are strong and have lots of experience then push. Check out places like jobserve.co.uk for similar contract positions and work out the point at which you become too much trouble to hire, then undercut that.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your responses. But disappointed to find that the pay is far too less. Actually I am getting a very good hike on my Indian salary and regarding the UK allowance maybe its a pittance but like Leena pointed out I get a visit (first time for me), and good profile. he company is small but they are taking personal interest in my relocation and they clard my queries regarding accomodation and travel. I wont have to orry about these two. If these are taken care of what do you think??
