Foreign Language Learning

Hi All,
I have 3+ years of Experince in Java/J2ee. I am planning for learning some foreign language so that I would increase my chances of offshore project development. Can you people suggest which language (like Japanese, German etc.) to go for that would increase the chance for the Offshore project development.

Learning foreign language (not English) for me and my IT friend is toture.
I should study Germany because next month I will go and live in Austria.
I try to get my ZD(German certificate) here in Iran(my country) but it is really hard for me. then instead of german study I take SCJP + 2 oracle exam for OCP.
I think after U.S. Germany is the biggest software producer (like SAP,Suze Linux, MYSql )in the world."If we forget about outsourcing to India"
So it is better if you want study Germany.

After Chinese and English Spanish is the most used language in the world, but in IT German is more important because of the large IT sector in Germanic countries.

For someone from Asia Japanese might be a better choice as Japan is nearer to your home and is the largest customer base in Asia.

Thanks for your suggestions. I am from India and still not able to decide between Japanese and German. Any more suggestions looking at the skill set of J2ee.

I think Japanese will be good choice but need dedication if u want to master it.
I know little bit japanese and I am in Japan for last 1 yr in IT.
Indian IT comp have good presence in Japan. So Japanese may Help you.

How about Arabic. I've noticed that most of the oil rich Arab nations don't produce enough technologists in any field and must import them from other countries. I remember hearing some crazy statistic about Saudi Arabia. It said that 85% of all of their college grads were theology majors. There country has tons of cash, but lack a technical workforce. Based on reports from friends who have worked in those areas, the pay is pretty high.

pay is high but work conditions are reportedly bad.
Job security is non existent, expats are effectively run into the ground with threats of getting their contracts cancelled unless they work until they drop, and if you do get some time off you're more or less confined to expat compounds as many parts of the country are off-limits to foreigners (at least officially for religious reasons).

The UAE are a better choice.

Yes,UAE,Dubai,Abu Dhabi are good choices.But most of the positions are of technicians/engineering like Turner,Fitter,Welders.I have hardly seen any computer related jobs ads.
