Which company, Microsoft or Joe's Data Services? In what country, UK or US? Which UK uni, Oxford or London School of Visual Basic? What degree, associate, bachelor, master, or doctorate?

I really don't know how much they pay in the UK. For people who live in the US, some web sites like Dice.com provide salary ranges for certain professions.

This thread is too meaningful to live in Meaningless Drivel. I'm moving it to Jobs Discussion forum.

Hi Mitchell

Anything from 15K-25K , depending on whos recruiting you , which Uni you have done your degree from and what are they expecting you to do.

Send us more details abt the same and I can be more specific.

Hi , i am a graduate from CNAM paris and i am living in lebanon
i am a trainee now in a company that uses vb.net and when my training
period is over i'll start with 550$ as a salary and we work from 8:00 to 17:00 with 30 minutes for lunch !!?
this is upsetting , that's why i am trying to search for a new job, a company that uses Java dont care for the salary now but the experience for me is the important thing .
tomorrow i have an interview ui hope that they accept me coz i have no working experience in Java

I'm in the Netherlands, 7 years experience (5 of them in Java). I make 36K a year before taxes.
When I started out with a fresh Ba I made less than half that, not sure what starting salaries would be now but no higher than 20K I'm pretty sure.
All that working for dedicated software companies.

That's about representative for the country.

UK salaries are higher, especially in the London area. But I doubt they're that much higher outside London (except maybe in Birmingham which currently has something of an IT mini-boom I've been told).
