Hello all,

I learned quit things about servlets technology and also the basics for jsp like scriplets embedded code .

It is commonly not good practice to use scriptlets code in jsp pages and it is adviced to use jsp tags . is that right ?
I'm still not at the stage of learning java beans and jsp tags which i think are important topics in jsp . does this mean i won't be able to work on a serious jsp project without mastering those last tools i mentioned ?

What are the Good advises you can give to start a serious jsp project and to use the best practices in jsp developement ?

thanks

If you are learning, I would recommend using the latest and greatest concepts that come with JSP and servlet containers.
I rould recommend to learn about custom JSP tags, what they are used for, and how to make your own tags, both coding java class files and using deployment descriptor files, and the implicit creation of a tag using JSP syntax in JSP 1.2.
Another good concept to grasp is the JSP standard template library (JSTL) and the expression language (EL) that works with it.
These concepts are available in the latest tomcat (currently 5.5.x series)
Then there are best practices within using JSPs, such as model two, or front controller pattern, and designing JSP pages that do not use Java scriptlets seems to be a new paradigm for doing things right.
For more details, see the link to Bill's excellent article at the top of this JSP topic group, or here
