Hi Friends,

I dont know whether this is the right forum to post this topic.

I am working on a web application developed using JSP,Servlet.
While logging into this web application, I need to find out the login ID of the client for the machine in which he/she has logged in.

Is there any API or so to achieve this goal?
please reply.

Thanks & regards,
Ketan

Its not. We have a JSP forum where you may get more help. I'll move this there.

I don't recall there being any way to do this, and logically there isn't.

Consider that you are sending text (generated by your jsp/servlets) to the browser and asking for information back. You aren't running code on the client machine (unless you run an applet, and you didn't mention this). The browser should not ever send sensitive information, such as login information, to your server.

What is it that you're trying to accomplish?

If you're doing this over the Internet then the name I used to login to my computer is none of your application's business.

However if you're doing it over an intranet within a company then it may be your application's business. If it's a Windows network then you could use JCIFS and HttpNtlmAuthorization (not sure if I spelled that correctly).
