I have the following line of code in a jsp file:

It causes this exception:

According to the documentation
The <jsp:useBean> element locates or instantiates a JavaBeans component. <jsp:useBean> first attempts to locate an instance of the Bean. If the Bean does not exist, <jsp:useBean> instantiates it from a class or serialized template.

What is going on ?

When you do not specify a class attribute, this action expects a scoped variable of the specified name and type to already exist.
