c:out and character code  RSS feed

Hello.

The tag:

<cut value="${name}" />

displays the corresponding character code (such as &gt; for >) if the value contains a >,...

Any chance to escape them or what is the quickest fix?

If you are using JSTL tags and do not have the JSTL Specification handy, you're doing it wrong.

Grab a copy of the Spec (see JSP FAQ for link) and look up the <cut> action. All will be revealed.

Too cool!

The JSTL Spec is an easy read. It's a good idea to read through the whole thing (except for those blasted SQL tags, of course) to see what it makes available as far as functionality and options.
