I just now got off the phone from a consultant who called me about a swing related job and I was explaining to him how Swing has become better and handsome with the recent java releases - and how Java is becoming a serious contendor for the desktop applications. Also I have started getting calls lately because of the J2EE/struts/swing hits in my resume !!

Question : Is swing becoming hot. Also whats the deal with SWT? Or by swing they mean the gui part - swing or swt. So far I have not seen a single job with SWT mentioned.

Is it just me or are there any one reading this and nodding their heads ??

Some people will have legacy rat's nest swing applications that they don't want to support. They'd like to hire a contractor to get on that track into the past or oblivion. When they build a new interface they blow the contractor, who now has to re-market himself.

Some people may keep their old swing stuff going a life time.

Do they want to hire you as a contractor or as a perm tells one a lot. We want to try you before we hire you means a lot too.
