Hi All ,
I am a biginner in javaranch

I want to know how can I manage the session of users while creating login pages I tried it using the session attributes ie writing the name of user on the session and then removing it when user logs out but when I press the back button of my explorer it goes to the welcome page

One more thing I want to know is how can prevent one from accessing the welcome page by typing the url

Issues with the Back button have been discussed seemingly hundreds of times here. Please use the search feature.

Read this for session management.

Also, if you want to restrict direct access of welcome page, you have to design it in such a way that ot accepts a session object. You should validate that object and decide the flow of rest of the page.

Hiding JSP pages behind WEB-INF has also been recently discussed.
