hi All,
I got kind of doubt of the use of the URI and URL.
Can anyone tell me what are the difference and similarities between with some
practical examples.
Regards,

A URL is a Universal Resource Locator. It represents a resource on the web that can be accessed and fetched.

A URI is a Universal Resource Identifier. it is just a name given to something to make it unique. It uses the format of a URL in order to help it be unique -- since the embedded domain name should belong to only one entity. A good example is the URI for a tag library. It doesn't represent a resorece on the web, it just names the library uniquely.

A name like "Fred" would be poor since nothing prevents someone else from naming their TLD "Fred". But a name like "http://www.bibeault.org/tld/friday/core" should be unique to TLDs that I define since no one but me owns the domain "bibeault.org".
