Displaying custom error page  RSS feed

Hi
I want display my customized error page when i give the url http://localhost:8080/anything. for this, i changed my web.xml in /ROOT/WEB-INF/ folder and added the follwing code.
<error-page>
<error-code>404</error-code>
<location>/404.jsp</location>
</error-page>

I have placed my 404.jsp in the /ROOT folder.

But I am getting the built in 404 error page when i type the URL.
Please help me in this regard .

Have you restarted the container or application after making these changes?
If so, you should look at the container's logs to see if something else is going wrong.
