Ask the people in each company ,what kind of projects are they doing and see whether those interest you.Don't run after money.Opt for knowledge first.Don't join the bandwagon.

It's because I don't know people in the companies that I'm asking here

Both the companies are good to work for.....

but it again depends on your area of expertise and the kind
of project you will be working when you join any of these companies...

Did you ask them about the kind of projects you will be working on ??
Also, how many years of experience you have??

Based on this, we can discuss about which one would be a better option...

You haven't specified what is your experience and in which domain?

And what each of them is offering( Salary, role, designation). Without that nobody can tell you which of the two has given you better offer.

Yes,hiding the details and extracting information from ranchers at free cost won't help Vijay.Give the details such as how much each is throwing and for what post?

Practically speaking, heres what i think. Be it Infosys or Accenture, both will have their share of good & bad work. There is no way of predicting in advance what you will be assigned to. Even if you do know what u will be assigned to, there is no guarantee that it wont change after a few months. People doing good work in Accenture will claim Accenture is better, whereas people doing good work in Infosys will claim Infosys is better. Now both of these being reputed companies, I think you should base ur selection on who is paying more.

One of the reasons few reply to questions like this is that this is such a personal choice and no one can say how your experience will turn out. I, for one, would recommend that you avoid both of these companies since they are very large, probably very bureaucratic and likely already yesterday's news. Its like trying to pick stocks by last year's performance instead of by looking at the fundemantals. For a job the fundementals are the type of work, the culture and the people, and that varies by department and group. One bad manager at a great company can spoil the whole experience, the inverse is also true.

What kind of help do you think employees need?

Your companies CEO and other management people are known for honesty and hardwork.Media prints their views regularly.Media also prints their grievances about conditions of roads, law and order etc.You as an employee earn descent salary as per Indian standard.Company is not known for unethical practices(atleast in India). When some high level foreign delegate arrives,he visits the place where you work.He requests your CEO to replcate that model in his country. He assures he will give every type of help for setting up a shop in his country. That means more work again.
What else you want?

It hardly makes difference to employee working there. If I were working there I would have felt so. My opinion only.

The reality could be different. I have seen many so called "honest" people and company to be found corrupt some years later. It really happens.

Arjun, Dont get carried by the newspaper ads.

Vijay,

I think there are more opportunities to travel in Infosys than Accenture. It again depends on your project.

Hi guys
Good!!seems like my post has sparked a very healthy debate.
Let me tell you ranchers something that you don't really know.
I wrote the INFOSYS test on Oct 3rd..2004
I've recd. a offer letter from INFOSYS on Oct 18th 2004, saying that
you'll receive your joining date before 3 months from now.
which is jan 18th!! On jan 18th INFOSYS emails everyone from Oct 18th batch
that the joining date is not yet finalized and they all will be intimated at the same time. Till date we've(Oct 3rd batch of computer science students) not recd. a joining date. Whereas ACCENTURE gives me a joining date period that does not exceed 15 days after getting the offer letter.
So my choice is pretty obvious isnt it. And Guys just pray to GOD for the OCT 3rd batch of students. Its a sorry state for them!!!

Being able to travel is better choice? Or a job that requires travel usually pays more? Just curious.

Linda, in India, people prefer to work for companies who send them on overseas assignments. They are not referring to domestic travel here. And when they are out on overseas assignments, they get their regular pay in India, plus a per diem according to the destination country's standards.

Generally its only basic salary and not the complete salary.

plus a per diem according to the destination country's standards.

and that standard is decided by employer. .
