can we pass parameters in anchor tag like using post method

hi ,
Can we pass parameters in anchor tag like in action we pass by using post method.
I have one problem. In anchor tag I append the parameters means it is displayed in the url and at the same time parameters length is a constraint here. I want to pass a lengthy data means it doesnt support.
To avoid this what I can do
<a href="path?param1="+<%=data%>>click here</a>

The only way to pass data with an anchor tag is to put them in the query string.

If you have a lot of data and don't want it to appear in the address window, why do you want to use an anchor tag?

You could always submit a form from the onclick event of an anchor tag.

<a href="" onclick="document.getElementById('myform').submit(); return false;">click me</a>
