I am so sorry to hear about your exam results. What studying techniques did you employ?

Don't give up. Try the following resources:

Bruce Eckel's Free Thinking in Java 3rd Edition. You can download from http://64.78.49.204/

Try Java 2: Sun Certified Programmer & Developer for Java 2 Study Guide (Exams 310-035 & 310-027) by Kathy Sierra + Bert Bates

Good luck!

hava already got a copy of that book but because it wasn't for the right exam haven't looked at it. Because i thought i might take me in a different direction or not cover the right topics

Is there a particular reason why you opted to take 310025 and not 310-035?

Read the Kathy and Bert's book. Even if it is wrong exam the basics would be the same. Taking some special courses never helped me. Sit down for a month or so writing programs and trying things you don't understand. Post your questions here, on Javaranch, you will get answers.
Working in this field would help but very slowly, about 10 times slower. Do it on your own.

You can do it!

Because they didn't feel like re-training their teachers?
Study yourself... You will see how much more productive it is.

The greatest mistake was going through Computeach. How is one sure the the instructors are even certified? Are they certified in the 310-035 version and had to put one in 310-025.

Rita Moore gave the right advice.

Also do Dan Chisholm's mock exams. These are harder than the real exam. When you can score 75% on these you will ace the exam.

The Tutors have all pased the scjp exam but now working through Kathy & Berts Book ,but have looked in the contents and can't find any reference to Files or the javai/o package. Can you recommend any books to study this up on?

If you search SCJP forums and FAQs you would find all the resources you need to pass this exam. They have so much material that its hard to go through all of them before exam. Good Luck!

Files and Java i/0 are no part of the 310-035 study guide. Though I did not use Kathy and Bert books but I heared a lot of words about it and I think it is great. I can not remember the name of the book I used right now b/c I am at the office but if you have a lot of money to throw around on more books then I would post the name once I get home; though I strongly believe that you have enough material to do it on your own already and you sure will do it on your own. Good Luck!

I am a man of mystery. Mostly because of this tiny ad:
Java file APIs (DOC, XLS, PDF, and many more)
