Hi Friends,

I have a JSP application which can be accessed by
http://localhost:8080/ShoppingCart/

but instead of this URL , i want to remove "localhost:8080" and access the application using
http://Online.Shopping/

can anybody please guide me for this?

Regards

Sanket

Hi Sanket Kulkarni,

For doing this you need to do couple of things in the server.xml file of your tomcat(I am assuming that you are using tomcat as you haven't mention your configurations). First of all change your port number from 8080 to 80 as its the default one. And another thing you need to give is that change its host name to online.shopping. You need to explore more on server.xml file.

Hi Sanket Kulkarni

You can do this but it is not java knowledge rather it is easy for networking persons.

I know it on linux but not with windows.

In linux you need to set your machine name (server name) and in apache server you have to redirect it to your application. So the user type http://Online.Shopping/ and your apache server redirect it to http://localhost:8080/ShoppingCart/.
