MBT is doing good. Work culture is ok. Most of projects are from British Telecom(BT) and they do send to UK for onsite. Most of projects related telecom domain.

MBT is average company with good infrastructure in Mumbai and Pune and sizeable people count (6000+ and counting). Recently the top management was changed. THe new management is certainly more agreesive and atleast has plans to grow in Non- British Telecom accounts. They bagged a contract from one US telecom giant in this year. So I guess the company is making progress in the right direction. Whether they maintain that drive or not.. needs to be seen.
As far as the personal growth is concerned, I don't think they will offer you extra-ordinary salary.. more likly to follow the industry standard.. Work is definetly in telecom domain.. so if you have the enthusiasm, you can certainly aquire lot of domain knowledge in OSS/BSS/ Landline/wireless technologies.
Earlier onsite opportunities were plenty... you just have to express the desire to go onsite.. it was like having a british passport.. :-) .. Not anymore.. So if going onsite is the only criteria.. then think again.. it may not be that easy..
All the best.

During HR interview , they ask you questions like What do u know about the company and why do u want to work for us.

If you dont have the knwoledge abt the company which is interviewing you then its a bit strange

If you really want to go into a top Telecom company then try for Alcatel India or Lucent technologies

Hi,
Thanks Amit for the advice.
Actually I have already been selected by mbt and the interviews are over. What I exactly wanted to know is how is the environment there. I mean for personal as well as professional growth and what are onsite oppurtunities. I heard they do sent a lot of people to mbt uk.
Morever how can I apply for companies like alcatel and lucent. Do they recruit freshers and how come.

Thanks

Manasij

Hi Amit

Lucent recruiting freshers. But to apply Lucent as fresher you should be holding BE or MTech in CS or Electronics from top 20 colleges(IITs, IISc, NIT etc) of India and passed with above 70%

Definitely if you get into Alcatel India or Lucent Technologies , then it will be the best thing for your career. As a fresher its a bit difficult to get hired by Alcatel India or Lucent. I have been interviewd by Lucent Inida -Bangalore.
check out www.alcatel.co.in for further information.
In fact you should try Sasken also which is another very good telecom company.
If you really desire to get into Lucent or Alcatel , and if your a fresher then I would suggest you to get into other telecom companies and get atleast 2 yrs of exp and then apply. Again its my personal opinion.
Current hot technologies in telecom are SS7, SIP, VOIP, CAMEL, and UMTS
All the best

Hi Babloo,
MBT didn't ask anything technical in the written test. The test was totally aptitude with verbal, reasoning, quant questions only. And was of 1 hr duration.
In the technical interview they did ask questions from C, Java, DBMS, Networking, OS. Since I had done some projects in UML and .NET, they asked some specific questions related to UML like
What's a use-case diagram, activity diagram. Draw a sequence diagram.
Also asked some questions on .NET framework, Web Services, XML.

In the HR interview, they asked some personal questions and questions like:
If given chance, how will u lead a project team.
You seem to be more interested in .NET, but if don't give u job in that area, will you work.
What are your hobbies, your extra-curricular activities.

If u wanna know anything more, let me know.
Best of Luck

Bye.

Manasij
