wondering how people usually implement auto-forward like if you visit

http://old-company.com/ you will see "the web site url has been changed tohttp://new-company.com" please click the link below if it does not take you to it within 10 seconds.." Does a JSP page work ? But since the old-company site is gone, who is going to maintain the jsp page ? doubt if it is still appropriate to deploy JSP or servlet to a retired domain site.

So, what's the proper way to do it ?

I think the redirect message on the old URL is a temporary measure when the URL has recently changed, so that people may update their bookmarks etc. After a sufficient period, the old URL could be scrapped completely.
