When using the getConnection method of the DriverManager it takes 3 parameters. URL, user, password correct? When I want to connect to a database from an applet that can be viewed from anywhere in the world all I have to do is point the applet to the correct URL and WHAM! im connected? Is it that easy? or am I missing something?
What is the syntax for this? Is the DSN part of the URL?.

Hello Ken
Yes , it is that Easy.
thats why it was defined as a URL
Because the Database is somewhere
That Somewhere can be defined by a URL
and the Driver Provider is Obligated to implement the
getConnection that recieves the URL
Thank you SUN for that great Interface

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
