do i need odbc installed for jdbc

i've jdk1.2 and will most likely use it with microsoft access.
what do i need to mak emy program run.Do i need the odbc driver?

First you have to do the ODBC-Konfiguration
In the folder Windows\System you find the program
Odbcad32.exe.Start it.

  • Select the register User-Dsn
  • Click Add...
  • Choose Microsoft-Access-Driver(*.mdb)
  • Click Finish
  • In the following dialog choose Select... in the frame
    database
  • Here you can browse for your .mdb-Database; for example Test.mdb
  • Click the OK-Button after you have selected your database
  • Write Test into the textfield Databasename and click OK
  • Click the Ok-Button

  • I hope i translated correctly into English because i own the German Version of Windows98.
    The class sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver is part of the JDK
    and is included in the file rt.jar
    Try the following code when you finished the Odbc-Configuration
