The problem:
We have an Oracle (8i2) database that utilizes an Abstract Data Type within one of its tables.
I am using a JBuilder (4) DataModule to connect to the database and retrieve/update the database information.
The destination of the retrieved information is database aware jdbTextFields controlled by/linked to a jdbNavToolBar linked to the DataModule QueryDataSet
I have been able to coerce JBuilder to retrieve the data and place it in the proper textFields, but in doing so, four non-database columns are created in the QueryDataSet within the DataModule. An "invalid column name" error occurs when an attempt is made to save the information back into the database.
I would like to be able to customize the "save" SQL for the jdbNavToolBar save button without losing its link to the QueryDataSet and/or database. But I am open to other solutions... the simpler the better.
I have searched the JBuilder 4 help, the Database Application Developer's Guide (PDF), the JDataSource Developer's Guide (PDF), the Borland JBuilder newsgroups, and the Oracle Technology Network and have been unsuccessful in finding a clear (the key word is clear) solution to this problem.
Suggestions anyone ?
