I think IBM-ISL means : IBM (Indian) Software Labs . I had a chance there earlier . I think they may put u in testing earlier ( I am not sure though . But they did asked me during my interview . Also IBM is famous for that. ) .
Software Labs is the place where IBM does Product Development and Testing .

IFLEX on other hand will give u a good domain knowledge ( FINANCE ) .

Work culture wise I think IBM may be slightly better .

Its upto u to decide : IBM ( A very big name ) vs. IFLEX ( A good finance product company ) .

Are u a fresher or an experienced guy ?

Hi Lavjeet ,

Thanks for replying ! I have 2 years exp in Core Java . My concern is that I am offered slightly more in IBM but I have to relocate to Pune. I am not sure about onsite opportunities in both the companies !

I have heard that IBM doesnt have much development but it HAS a big name !
Please help me make a decision,

Thanks a lot !

In which city r u currently working ?

Regarding onsite I think both have onsite opportunities but IBM sends u at good places like Europe etc while IFLEX may send u to South Africa ( where they have good market ) . But chances to go onsite are better in IFLEX .

No Iflex guy in Javaranch to give advice ?

There is very little onsite in IBM ISL. In iflex everyone travels.

I think IBM-ISL stands for IBM Software Labs or Indian Software Labs . It is a department in IBM where they make products .

Thats right Lavneet ! thats what they told me , IBM - ISL is India software Labs and is the product development section of IBM !

I am deciding on IFlex , atleast I dont have to relocate !

Thanks for all your help guyz !

And in case you know of any openings for Java programmers ( 2 years exp ) please do let me know !

I am really interested in Delloite , Capgemini , have posted my CV through their website but nothing has turned up ! Any suggestions ?

Hi
I am working in ISL. I jumped three firms[E&Y,MindTree,IBM] in my four year career.

This is my suggestion.

Good Things
1)Brand Name.
2)Sal increment high.
3)Greater learning oppertunities.
4)Highly motive
5)If you have caliber you can prove
6)You can invent[If you have ideas]

BadThings
1)No Onsite[Even if you get, you will get short term]
2)They may put you in Testing[IBM provides you an oppertunity to work in any field but you have to prove].

We no longer allow company-specific discussion (see the posting guidelines for details), so I'm closing this thread.
