ip addresses

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi!
I would appreciate some advice on a problem I am working on.
The requirement is to transfer data from a remote oracle database to a local database.I am not clear how to specify the data base url for the two dbs.
Assuming -
DBremote- ip address = 1.1.1.1, sid = remote
DBlocal - ip address = can keep changing depending upon the machine upon which the app is run, sid = local.
Do I specify the local address as being 127.0.0.1(local host) or does the static ip address of the local machine need to be specified ?
How do I set up the database url for the two databases in the properties file given the ip addresses and the sid?
Apologies if the questions sound trivial, and thanks in advance if for any help on the issue.
Shilpa

For the local machine, you can use 127.0.0.1 (or localhost). In this way, you don't have to change the ip address for different machines.

Hi!
Thanks for the answer Wayne!
Does anyone have any advice for the second part of the question ?
How do you set up the database URL in the properties file given the ip address and the sid of the db ?
Thanks in advance,
Shilpa.
