Hi guyz !

My friend got an offer from Cap Gemini , mumbai. He has overall 3 years exp and 2 yrs relevent exp. He is offered about 3.5 lks . Is it a good deal ? I had heard that Cap gemini offers gr8 pacackages but it doesnt look like that!!

Plz let me know if this a good offer and also about work culture in cap gemini!

Will really appreciate your inputs! Thanks !

I wonder why people post messages for friends. Are they internet illiterate?

Anyways, I wonder why you consider 3.5L for 2yrs relevant experience a "not gr8" package.

Hi Soniya,

I dont see why you cant use this forum to help out a friend in need ! And my friend has 3 years IT experience its just not in the same technology and accoring to me any 3 year exp person gets about 3.75 lks , so I consider this offer not so great !

If he is having 3 yrs IT exp then the offer is not bad. If he is having only 2 yrs IT exp its good offer.

And 3.75 L and 3.5L pa doesnt make much difference when it comes to monthly take home. If the it includes yearly variable amount then you wont find any difference.

As Cap Gemini is good company so your friend dont need to think about .25L. Also you need to look your current sal too. If there is > 30% on current salary the offer is ok.

After reading few posts abt salary in last few days, I feel salary expectation are being set unrealistically high by s/w professionals in India now. Esp. by those who haven't faced 2001-2002 IT slowdown I think....

Whether you like it or not, the fact remains that s/w professionals are grossly overpaid as compared to any other professional (except few exceptions) in India and instead of being happy and thankful about it, they want more & more. I understand competitive salary, not a recluse/hermit myself, but this greed (not referring to anyone in particular) sometimes scares me....how much is enough???

Just my thoughts...

Hi Manish,

Thats true I guess when it comes to money its never enough

but when 1 person gets 2.8 lakhs and another person with the same experience gets 4.5 lakhs one starts looking for answers like maybe that company pays more or something like that.

Hi Manish,
Rightly said. But as you know it is a common human trait to look at persons at par with you but earning more than you and feel why am i not gettting the same pay. As long as a person has such a mindset ( even i do have a similar one but trying hard to push it back), such questions about money are inevitable. Just my thoughts ( It is really necessary to add this mandatory line at the end ? But anyway safe so that I dont start up another heated debate.)
