I have an application with JSP and JavaBeans, which use a Oracle8i Database. Now I want to implement connection pooling. I have tested the classes of oracle.jdbc.pool.*.
The Webserver we use is Tomcat.
Now my questions:
Can Tomcat handle connection pool by himself? Or where I have to place the oracle classes, so what the instance of the connection pool is valid over the whole time a user can use the application?
Thanks!

No tomcat will not handle datatabase connection pooling for you.
It's the role of the driver. Infact at our place we manage the connection pooling (probably a over kill since the driver manages the same).
So u must have the Oracle Driver in your classpath while
using tomcat.
I have a question here wrt what we do at our company.
We have our database manager which does pooling ..Is this an overkill?? since the driver itself does it?
thanks
karthik.
