Getting PL/SQL tables from JDBC

When all else fails, post.
I'm running WebLogic 5.1 using their connection pooling with the Oracle thin driver (which we need to use at least for the time being). I've written some stored procedures (PL/SQL) that have parameters that are package-defined PL/SQL tables, and I'm having an absolute bear of a time trying to put in table parameters or get them out.
I know that WebLogic connection pools return weblogic.jdbc.pool.Connection objects when you make a request of them, and therefore when you ask for a CallableStatement, you don't get an OracleCallableStatement. So it becomes impossible to use any of the non-standard methods in that class. (Which, if I understand what I've been reading, is only possible using the OCI drivers?)
Is what I'm asking even possible? If it's not, is there anyone out there who's figured out a decent workaround to this short of catting Strings together and parsing them out in my code? I need to be able to pool connections AND pass arrays or PL/SQL tables from and to my Java code.
