Has anyone COMPLETED a BIG EJB project?
How was it? Was EJB solid as a rock?

indyahack,
How big is big? We're thinking of using ejb 1.1 (or even 2.0) with WebLogic for a large online commodities trading firm.
This is definately big, and critical. Anything to watch out for?

We completed a Pilot project using EJBs as the main technology, and on the strength of it, are now continuing to vastly expand its scope. I suppose that speaks for itself in that it was a success. The main things we were evaluating were the following:
1. To ensure that the technology was capable of high performance
2. To be able to use the results of the Pilot project as a guide to plan and estimate similar projects in future
3. To prototype new technology and methods
4. To assess the training and skills requirements to successfully run projects using this technology
In the process found EJBs generally to be reliable, but we did have to overcome some serious problems (bugs) with the Container provider software. And to achieve our performance goals we had to make some tactical implementation decisions. So I'd say it is possible to make EJBs very time-efficient, and assuming that you have a reliable and extensible container provider, very reliable too.

Yes! I agree with George. We have rolling our development System into Production this week. We are using Weblogic App Server 4.5.2 and Oracle 8i. Although we had to make some tactical decisions, the Bench Mark results are solid. We have designed this for a B2B exchange and it is handling 50,000 transactions a day.

Hello,
I read that you are developing some EJB project. I want to make some EJB application on my own, could you please suggest me any project?
Thanks.
Vibha.

Hi Guys,
Yes Yes Yes We are doing buidling a huge system using the J2EE technology stack. Emphasis is more on EJB n realted technologies. EJBs are Fundu concepts to work with. The app server takes care of n issues and we can focus on developing the business logic.
Cheers,

Has any implemented a Big EJB Project with EJB 2.0 or trying to implement with EJB 2.0? if so how was the performance with EJB 2.0 CMP /CMR, I would like to hear from those who implemented the big EJB project and used the EJB CMP/CMR. Have you guys found how the 1 to M and M to M relations are handled?
We are trying to implement EJB 2.0 with CMP/CMRs with Oracle 9iAS/OC4J and have issues with CMP/CMRs and that has been discussed in this forum already just for reference I will give that url again

Thank you
We can fix it! We just need some baling wire, some WD-40, a bit of duct tape and this tiny ad:
a bit of art, as a gift, that will fit in a stocking
