How do I "listen" to an EJB?  RSS feed

In a stand-alone application I frequently have objects "listen" to changes in other objects using custom interfaces implemented similarly to the component event model.
With distributed archictures it should be arbitrary where the observed objects run. What is the recommended technique for having a local object listen to an EJB?
