No Pradip...What is attractive offsite is not attractive onsite...
I mean Services companies pay poorely in India but they pay you well if you are sent onsite..Ex...Tcs pay in India is Pathetic...

But product companies which pay well here in India dont pay you that well if you are sent onsite..
Ex..Sap labs pays only 30 euros a day if you are sent to Germany..i2 technologies pay you $50 if you are sent onsite...

So now comes the important question Is it preferable to work in a Product company or a services company(purely from materialistic point of view)?..I am pondering over this question for a long time...Any suggestions

Depends on your location and person interest. If a person in India and more interested in onsite he prefers services company. This doesnt mean that only or all services companies will send onsite. If the person is not India onsite parameter wont come into his mind.

Long term onsite varies from 70k to 90k (and no indina salary) for indian companies and goes up very high for some very good "real" consulting companies.By "real" I mean the person is not just a contractor but a knowledge expert and these companies pay around....$60k per annum onsite + great indian salary + food + hotel +car +fuel.....no these are not your run of the mill indian service companies like Infy.

No Pradip, its after tax.. As per US pay rules, min salary in most of the cities should be 60K . TCS pay structure is different for the last 8 months after it went to coderanch.

Generally, its in the range of 3500 to 4000 ( after TAX) for 2 to 8 yrs experiienced..

Even Wipro and Infy also pay in the similar range. may be couple of hundres more or less.
HCL pays 2800$ + indian salary.

Adavantage with TCS is it sends most of the people on L1. So, their spouses also can work , if they are qualified.

Sameer Teja :
Thanks for the info. I am glad to know that it is after tax. Is 3K $ enough in US if it is a family ? What about accomodation - will the the company provide one ? If it doesn't , may be 1000$ will go for rent.

TCS is going to implement 70:30 ratio very soon for US projects. So going onsite as soon as you join TCS will not be there in future.

Salary for US employees in TCS is 3400$ + indian salary in dollors.

AS far as my knowledge goes, this is the industry standard :
B1 : Indian Salary + 35 $ per. diem + Other Expenses like Accomodation,Cab are taken care of
L1 : 3500 $ After Tax (No Indian Salary ....Obviously)
H1B : 3500$ - 4500$ After Tax (Depending on the Role and Job Location etc.,)

There can be a variance of 10% from the above. If you happen to share accomodation with 2-3 colleagues and cook for yourself, you can bring home a fortune even if you are on a B1.Needless to speak of H1B!!!

Yep.. No indian salary...

3500+ is very well enough , even with family.. Company doesnot provide any accommodation in US.. Still, you can easily save $ 1500 a month. And you will have tax returns as well. And this salary varies between cities. TCS-Newyork people will get 100$ more than the people in other samller cities.

1,500 * 12 =18,000 $ ~= 7,20,000 INR

$1500/month may not be possible unless you eat cooked food like curry, rice, chapati, curd all the time and strictly avoid going anywhere unless it is must.

I know of HP.

HP - B1 Visa - US$50 (in Class 1 cities, $45 in others) perdiem + conveyance in actuals + co provided acco
Western Europe - 50Euros per diem + conv + acco
L1 Visa - 55K to 85K depeding on location and experience
H1 Visa - 60K to 90K depeding on location and experience

Many other cos give about $60 per diem + conv + acco for B1 trips

There are companies which gives $10 + others at actuals also! (eg, Dell for B1)

I heard IBM gives $35 per diem
