Hello,
I have eight years experience in IT and currently have offers from IBM Global services and Wipro. I did some research from the previous postings in this site and came to a conclusion that it is better to go to IBM.

There is not much difference in the salary and the role offered. However, I am not sure about the onsite opportunities in these two companies. Does anyone have any suggestions? Your suggestions will be helpful to make my final decision.

Thanks,
Abraham.

Good that you decided you want to go IBM. Even I feel IBM is better to Wipro. Both are having onsite opp. IBM provides you short term onsite.

IBM:
- IBM offshore package is pretty good than Indian based companies
- Less onsite opportunities.
- Check the package provided at onsite for short term
- Growth rate may not be competitive like Wipro/Infosys

Wipro:
- Project management stream in Indian based companies are really good to go up in the ladder, since Wipro is growing like anything and would grow further for another 5 years.
- Long onsite opportunities are guaranteed if you are at least above average performer
- More opportunities to become SPM/GPM/VP...etc, if you set goal
- It is not necessary that you have to be technically very competent and update yourself. Just get a developer to do the job for you.

Infosys: Similar to wipro

CTS:
- Am seeing CTS is really going to explode like anything. At present they look how Infosys/Wipro was at 1998/99. So, you will have excellent growth in this company, if you join now.
- Package is also really good like wipro/infy
- You would get shares too, since you are in PM role....:-) (Note, neither Infosys nor Wipro provides shares to their employees now)
- Golden times of Wipro/Infosys is over. CTS is just entering into it's golden times.

US:
If you are interested to stay for long time (may be for >4 years) in US, try for IBM US or CTS US for better package.

PS: Hope you are not presently working in Infosys or CTS :-)

Thanks for all your suggestions. Looks like Wipro is a better option based on my priorities.

Thanks,
Abraham.

I always thought that IBM (and other MNCs) give you better salary than indian companies like Wipro/Infosys.. Is it not true anymore ?

I am not sure about the general trend. But, that is not true in my case. In fact Salary at Wipro is little more that than IBM including the performance linked variable component. The only difference is that Wipro's variable component is 15% of CTC compared to 3% in IBM.

Regards,
Abraham.
