Got an offer from Accenture Mumbai. They are only paying 2.45L pa (including variable pay). I am not sure is it possible to relocate and survive in a place like Mumbai for such a low salary.
What do ranchers suggest, should I take up this offer?

If you want to stay at Bandra(W) or Pedder Road, this salary is not suficient.

Thanks

I am currently working in Panchkula (near Chandigarh) in a small unknown company and my current pay is 1.95L but since I stay in my home town its not too less. I have no idea about Mumbai but I'd like ot live in a decent and affordable locality.

You should be able to survive in Mumbai with single's accomodation and comfortable (not luxurious) lifestyle for around 8-10k/month.

Sharing acco. with other 2/3 women in decent locality - 2/3K per person
Food (dinners, luch should be on house) - 2K
Travel - 1.5 to 2 K
Other expenses - 2/3K

Mumbai is an expensive place, and the offer accenture has made is not going to make a big difference to your earnings. I suggest continue with your current job. Also, work wise you will most likely get a raw deal at accenture. In case you are particular about the kind of work you get to do, then accenture is a strict no no. Go for it only if you want to live in mumbai and/or always wanted to work for an MNC.

I think Victor and Garishma is working in Accenture Mumbai.
Victor and Garishma, can you please give some information regarding this.
Is the work in Accenture good? Are the future prospects good after working for a 1-2 years with Accenture. Or any other information you can provide.

I never in my life imagined that I'd ever go to Mumbai. I requested the Accenture HR a lot to send me to either Hyd or B'lore as I have a couple of friends there. But they said the vacancy that suits my profile is only in Mumbai.
I don't want to let go of, what some say is a good opportunity and also very nervous about moving to a place like Mumbai at an extremely low salary.

You didnt tell me your years of experience. Accenture may not be such a good place to start your career. And considering 2.5 lakhs I believe you are in the beginning of ur career.

Anjali,

I have stayed in mumbai too. As people says that you can't save much money with the salary you will be getting. But you have very big jump in your career. Once you goto Mumbai you will realize the same.

Just don't compare Accenture job from money point of view. If you are doing this then it will be a biggest wrong decision in your career.

As a Sr. this is my advice. Rest you have to think.

And yup upto somewhat extent Victor is also right.

I do not agree on this. Mumbai may not be a good place to jump start. Places like Bangalore, Pune are the ones where you should be starting your career. Since you have many options over there. Mumbai has far fewer options when compared with these two cities.

Regarding Accenture, well its the best place you can be if you decide to be in Mumbai. But when you compare it with companies in Bangalore, Pune well I think "it does not fare that well as far as freshers go"

I have 2 years of exp.(23 months). My current CTC is INR 1.97L pa but since I stay with my family it was OK for me but in Mumbai I'll have to set up everything.

Can't you bargain for more ? 2.5 seems to be less to me. You can always say that you have to re-locate and hence you expect more.

How does ACCENTURE work? Do they have any base salary for different locations. Why Bombay salary be different than Pune salary when living expenses in BBY are higher? I think there is a possible mis-communication that you might like to clarify with HR.

They should be having base salary for different designations and not for locations. Now days all companies looking for cost cutting so they will try to get employees for as less salary as possible.

I think you shud try to bargain with them for better package. But my opinion is, if you can manage with this salary go for it.

Initially when I joined, I had some issues. But now I feel comforatble here and I can say..its a good company with good work culture...

I WUD SAY GO FOR IT.......

Thanks for replying Garishma. Accenture is definetely a great place to work in. But the Accenture offer has taken a back seat now since I have got an offer from Sapient and HCL in Gurgaon. I found it very difficult to relocate to Mumbai at a low salary. But with the other two companies I can stay close to my family and work in a reputed company at a much better salary.
