This is my first post to the forum and I am in need of some critical advice from you all.
I have around 7 years of experience in Java/J2ee and I got an offer from IBM bangalore (Project Lead) recently. I am currently working in HCL, Chennai (as PL). Following are some of the points that makes me think hard before accepting this IBM offer.
1)Though IBM is a brand name, I am hearing that the growth rate is not too high there. Probably, I'll stay as a PL for the next 3 years regardless of performance at IBM. But HCL will make me a PM by middle of next year.
2) The salary promised at IBM is 8.9 lacs pa. And I am currently getting 6.2 lacs at HCL. Although this is a strong enough reason to opt for IBM, I really cant think salary as the only item to make career decisions. Am I right in thinking so? Or am I impractical?
3)I am recognized as a star performer at HCL in the recent annual appraisal and I will be put under the "fast track" career growth process. Can anyone let me know how IBM recognizes their employees performances?
Any comments highly appreciated.
