hi everyone, it seems that most of the terms in JDBC and SQL are foreign to me, please teach me how to create and a database for a phone directory program. After that, how can I access the database to search the name in the directory in order for it to show the searched name? Please help...perhaps the code as well, thanks so much!

To create a database, you firstly need to decide which kind?
From large to small in scale, you have:
Oracle > MS Sql > MS Access .....
With Access, you don't need to know SQL.
Anyway, the first step for you is to decide what kind of access you have to Database. Then play with it.

For an easy introduction to JDBC and SQL, take a look at The Cattle Drive.
