Hi,
I am trying to use clobs in my java program to be able to handle > 4k of data. I am using weblogic 8.1 + oracle 9i. Googling, I found this web page: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/oracle/advanced.html#1158561
which seems to be for 8.1. The problem is it says to type cast the clob to weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleClob . I included the corresponding weblogic.jar from 8.1 into the "external jars" list of eclipse to be able to compile the progam. But, this class still shows up in Eclipse as deprecated. So I'm wondering if i'm doing the right thing. ( i'm just following the instructions in this page)
Any help on how to use clobs, other websites i could check, etc are greatly appreciated.
thanks
sundar

Jamie,
Thanks for the info. I'm looking into these docs now.
Some other stuff that i found on other pages didn't work well. ( usually resulted in class casting exception ) so i went back to using OracleClob. Things work fine using OracleClob though Eclipse keeps complaining that it is deprecated. I haven't yet found any documentation saying weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleClob is deprecated.
