hi everyybody. iam from india
i am a fresher. two months back i wrote SCJP 1.4. i got 91%
i am searching for a job. Mean while i just want to prepare for some Certifications. My problem is that i am confused whether to do my SCJP 1.5 or Web Component Certification (SCWCD) or EJB Certification (SCBCD). which will be better?. guide me. iwant to start preparation.
my next question is that for how many months my SCJP 1.4 will be valid?
do u think 1.5 is necessary for all 1.4 certified guys or can we proceed with SCWCD and SCBCD certification without doing SCJP 1.5
I am eagerly waiting for ur reply guys

Ramu,

If I were you, I'd get the SCWCD and then (after six months to a year) get certified in JDK 1.5.

Your certifications never expire... Only the version numbers become outdated.

Also, the JDK 1.4 cert is still very useful in the industry because most corporations are still doing JDK 1.3 & 1.4 development. Some companies are transcending to 1.5, but not all!

Kindest regards,

I agree with Unnsse Khan that you should move on to a different certification rather than concentrating on the Java SE certs, if only because 1.4 should be sufficient for the moment.

Depending on what you're wanting to do - EJB development, Servlet/JSP, Java ME or Web Services - you might tailor your aim for a different exam. Or, if you'd rather get some experience with programming and have something interesting to present, you might go for the SCJD exam. It all depends on what you want to do.

Congrats for your SCJP. Go for SCWCD as your next certification.

Good Luck
