TCS is like a goverment office. So if you are looking for a dynamic company where things move fast you aint going to get it. here you can work as a 9 to 5 employee ... Onsite chances are very high .. In fact TCS is called Travel Consultancy Services since it sends people onsite fast. But otherwise inspite of being one of the biggest software firms in India, its pretty much bureaucratic.

As a fresher you may go there but dont expect to stick there for long and have a fruitful career.

If Brand name / Reputation / Relaxed life / ample of onsite opportunities matters to you go for TCS, but if you prefer challenging work / fast vertical growth / more responsibitlies don't go for TCS.

Think over your priorities and decide. No company is good or bad, important thing is to see if it can fulfill your career priorities.

I won't suggest you to join TCS at this stage of the career better stick to interraIT for another couple of months maybe complete one yr and then you may look for a career change and till that time you will be in a better position as to decide what you want from your career i mean you may be able to decide on your priorities.

Cheers,
Rahul

i have worked for TCS and kicked this damn company after first 9 months.......my point of view:

if u can work with people who keep an "indian pan" in their mouth full of red saliva....while talking to u...DO JOIN TCS.

if u would like to spend a good part of ur work time every month end figuring out how exactly to fill up the time sheet....no one to give u a clear idea...DO JOIN TCS.

if u dont mind getting an yearly rating of 2 on 5..even after doing very well...just because there is some "curve" funda in TCS management strategy..., DO JOIN TCS.

if u want to play a cheap gamble of going "ONSITE"....which has no value in itself.....then DO JOIN TCS.

BUT

if u want to grow as a professional, as a genuine software engineer,,and if u have some work ethics and personal thought on professionalism....NEVER JOIN TCS....

always remmeber...small new upcoming companies give u opportunities to truly learn technology....u have a boon...dont throw it for nothing..

rest is ur decision...

Thats lame. Just bcuz you might have had a few people eating pan in front of you, doesnt mean TCS is full of pan eaters (during work).

How tough can that be?

I think most big companies use the "bell curve".

if u want to play a cheap gamble of going "ONSITE"....which has no value in itself.....then DO JOIN TCS.
What kind of value were you expecting onsite.

Angry people in all companies say this about their respective companies.

In India, in the IT services segment, brand name matters a lot.

Dear Soniya,

its a matter of personal choice. i just highlighted all that hurt me when i was in TCS. And i exactly meant what u didnt....that early on in career one must concentrate on technology rather than empty brand name....brand name can be caught up with later....My work experience at TCS could not get me a job even in small organisations with 10-15 persons workforce, just because i had no relevant experience in 9 months of service in TCS....that is why i highlight on technology rather than brand....i had struggled a lot inside TCS and outside it....so i always alert ppl that if they are not sure what exactly they are going to work on(which is often the case), then better not join Big names like TCS, infosys, wipro etc...

regards.

Thats what people are taught in TCS."Every line of code which you write is a very high intellectual property"

* they like to point out errors of non-TCS developers in meetings with management. Basically they don't mention an issue until some meeting where they can publicly announce it. yet they would work nights to cover up for the errors of other TCS developers.

Thats Indian way of 'screwing' somebody's else a***. and when they are exposed ,keep low profile and work day and night to cover up the issue.

* they don't like to share knowlege with non-TCS developers.

Thats the Indian way of living. You can't blame TCS coders for that.
