GENERAL ERROR

HI
CAN ANYONE TELL WHY OCCASSIONALLY I GET 'GENERAL ERROR' EXCEPTION IS COMING.
JDK VERSION : JDK117
SQL SERVER VERSION : SQL SERVER 2000
SQL SERVER DRIVER USED
SOME TIMES WHEN I INSERT VALUES INTO DATABASE (NOT EVERY TIME) 'GENERAL ERROR' IS DISPLAYING IN THE EXCEPTION AND THE ROW IS NOT INSERTED

some things that might help us are:
1. what type of exception is it ( SQLException? )
2. what is the code that is causing the exception ( small snippet that identifies which line is causing the problem, as well as the SQL text )
3. SQL SERVER DRIVER USED -- does this mean Microsoft's driver? is it a type 4 driver?
4. can you chain through to find any other Exception messages in your exception block. Sometimes the first exception masks any other exceptions that are happening at the database( see the SQLException method getNextException() to chain down for any other exception messages ).
