CTS or WIPRO

Hi guys,
I have 4.5 yrs of exp in IT in development field.I have offers from both CTS and WIPRO Chennai.The role,salary and technology are almost the same for both.So am in great confusion over which offer to take up.
Guys, pls help me out and point out the plus and minus points in the above 2 companies. And also in terms of work pressure in both companies and growth.

Need fast reply on this one.

How much salary you are offered ? go wherever sal is better (also check variable part),otherwise more or less both are same...........

Sowmya this is sudhakar.presently i m working with keane india ltd.So as per as ur company is corcern both the companies are good but i think there is better chances for onsite in CTS.Aprt from this salary is also a big matter.. reply me [email protected]

Thanks for the prompt replies. To answer ur questions the pay package I am being offered from both CTS and WIPRO are very similar, that is why I am such a dilemna.

How about the work pressure in the 2 companies??

i) Ask both CTS & Wipro for 1% more than what they agreed upon.
-If Wipro agrees & CTS doesn't, join Wipro
-If CTS agrees & Wipro doesn't, join CTS
-If both of the agree, GOTO (i)
-If both of them doesn't agree, try Infosys or TCS

First Congrajulations. Well, think in such a way, What kind of projects you are going to do there. As you have 4.5 yrs experience, you must be strong in atleast one domain(like Insurance,Banking, Telecom,logistics etc.). Out of these two companies prefer the company where u need to work in the domains which u have already worked. Continuing work in the same domain leads you to become a Techno-Funcitonal guy. As u know lot of demand for them.

Think in those aspects and take good decision which would help you to build bright career.

I opt for CTS. CTS chennai center is very good. Its more employee friendly compare to Wipro.

A friend of mine had similar dilemma in 2002 and what he did was rather out of the way but here is what he did: He took joining dates with a gap of 15 days between two companies and joined first company. He than took leave of a week saying - he needs to shift his house and settle other stuff and joined second company. After spending 4 days at second company, he found it better and sent resignation letter to first and continued with second only.

Regarding your original question:
1) Work pressure would largely depend on ur project than ur company. Company culture matters but most of the these companies have similar culture.

2) Environment depends on ur colleagues as u got to interact with them most of the time so a generic feedback hardly helps.

3) Don't be too much worried about salary difference. A difference of couple of thousands per year doesn't matter anyway.

4) If possible, try to figure out growth prospects - i mean personal growth (and not just company growth) in terms of frequency of appraisal and time line for promotions and if you are interested than on-site prospects.

5) As mentioned by Sai Krishna Chitta's, domain knowledge can be one major criteria in selection.

You have got two good offers from 2 good companies. Now you have the option to shortlist them. I write here what I think correct.

[1] Forsee your future plan, what you want to become after 5 or 10 years. (You may prefer going higher studies or going onsite)
[2] Look at these 2 companies, (they have really this trade-off).
[3] Shortlist one atlast.

If still you are in confusion, you can workout your future plan first then come back to these options.
