Is it easy to get J2EE Developer job in Canada?

I'm an Indonesian who currently working as J2EE Developer in Singapore.
I'm willing to move to Canada next year.
1. Is it easy to get J2EE Developer position there for Indonesian people like me?
2. Is there a lot of J2EE Developer vacancies in Canada?

Umm, you did notice that the article talks mainly about
a) getting Canadians to return home
and
b) making sure that skilled workers who are already in the country do not return home.

The point about getting foreign nationals to come to Canada is rather vague. But Canada has a point system for judging whether foreigners qualify to naturalize, so you can find out yourself if you might qualify.

You should read the over 100 responses to the article, from Canadian expatriates or recent immigrants to Canada. After you've done so, you can get a good idea for how likely you are to find a job.

IMHO you simply shouldn't go to Canada at all.

The useful link I used about this is dead, was http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/wire/sns-ap-canada-immigration,1,3199138.story?coll=sns-ap-nationworld-headlines&ctrack=1&cset=true , but main relevant statement was "Canada is often criticized for attracting highly educated immigrants, who then complain that their professional credentials are not accepted. Many foreign doctors and engineers end up working as taxi drivers and waiters. Statistics Canada has found that recent immigrants earn less than their Canadian-born counterparts, despite higher levels of education".

This is what the other article (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20051113.wcanada1113/BNStory/National/) says too "Many of those people, including doctors and other skilled professionals, toil in menial jobs, their credentials unrecognized by Canada".

It is well known, as these articles state, that in Canada you could easily have to spend at minimum 3 years (the time to acquire Canadian citizenship) with a very low end job to survive meanwhile, but what for ? After more than 3 such years what would remain of your skills ? And anyway this would allow you to get rid of visa issues, but wouldn't anyway give you any canadian credit, for only Canadian credits are recognized by Canadian industry, for them your diplomas and skills have no value for they have not been acquired in Canada. As long as this situation lasts, I suggest you don't go to Canada at all. Remain a valuable IT pro where you are rather than wasting your time for nothing in Canada for total lack of foreign value recognition.

But what about USA? Is it difficult too for a foreigner like me to get a job as developer there?

The market for j2ee developers in Singapore is very good. There a lot J2EE Developer vacancies here. The salary range for 1 year experienced is about S$2000 - S$2800.
I got a job in Singapore when I was still in Jakarta. I apply this job from there. I send so many application to companies here (about 30 applications) but only 1 company who called me for an interview.

You can follow my step, apply a job in Singapore from your country, India. But you will get more opportunities if you come to Singapore first and do job hunting here. There are so many my Indonesian friends do this and they did it.
There also many Indians work as J2EE Developer here .

Amanullah..Regarding the job situation in Bangalore currently the situation here is pretty good..If you are good enough you will get multiple offers that is for sure..

pay package depends on how you market yourself..For a person with 1 year experience it could be something between 3-5.5 lakhs/annum..

But I dont know about the immigration policies of the India..it is a irony that I am keenly exploring other countries policies without knowing about the policy of my own country..

You need to have a job offer from a company in India...then you can easily get a work permit....

Thanks.How tough is it to get Indian visa.As far as I got the information Indian offcials are generally reluctant to give working visa to outsiders who want to work in India .
Anyway I will try my best.Singapore is also a good option.

Iam working here in Singapore for the past 5 months in J2EE... The job is daunting (agree other Singapore foreign IT proff will also agree). I too plan to return to India soon. 2000$ to 2800$ is not great money...We can earn in India too.. provided we get offers in good MNCs...

About the VISA... if u got an offer to work in Singapore, get the EP and come. Dont come on other passes like TP or SPass//

Here in India if annual income for a person is 4 lacs INR.He will be receving around 24,000-28,000 per month after tax( the variation depends upon the company policies).So if the person stays in bangalore he can save around 20K-22K after rent and other things...

How about in singapore?.How much we can save after tax and rent..?

Hi Venkat,
We can actually save about S$1500, the living cost in here is about S$800 - S$1000 per month. For me, one day living cost is about S$10 (3 times eat + transportation). For rent an apartment room is about S$350 - S$500 depends which area. It is true that some companies only open job vacancies for Singaporean or Singaporean PR, but there are some companies that open the vacancies for foreigner too. So the opportunity is 50 - 50

I think you can apply the PR status after you work here as a foreigner for 1 year. The PR approval is depend on your salary (employment pass status) and how long you've been in Singapore.

Hi Venkat,
Hendy is talking about bachelor expenses. Indian bachelors need atleast 1200-1500 SGD as indian food is costly compared to hawker joints which servers chinese/other cuisine.

and if you are married be prepared to shed atleast 500 more.

Singapore PR is very easy now if you are well qualified with good earnings. I know people who got PR after staying just 2-3 months here.

Here in India we get around 10-20% increase in our salaries again this depends upon the company.

I myself wasn't appraised but I hear it is between 100-500 dollars which would result in 3-10% (depending on salary)

I think its very hard to get a job in singapore with only 10 months experience. Many requirements demand atleast 2 yrs experience and most of them ask for 4yrs experience.

Hmm, I think it's not quite hard. When I was started to work in Singapore, I just have 1 year experience. And there is my friend who just have 8 months experience when he apply for work in Singapore. I think it's not quite hard. But it will affect the salary you gain. The salary for 1 year experience and 2 years or more experience of course will be difference.
