Out of this three Cap Gemini is better. CGI is better than Accenture. There are lot of good companies in and around SEEPZ.

Are you referring to CGI-AMS?

If so, CGI is not match for Accenture size wise.
A quick look at
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=GIB
and
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/co?s=acn
will give you an idea about the corporate size of both companies.

Secondly, do visit www.vault.com. You can get a review of the job descriptions etc. Most of it is specific to USA, but I've noticed some Indian positions also there. No harm checking out that resource!

Accenture, in my opinion is much highly respected than CGI-AMS.
The consulting market is more or less controlled by IBM and Accenure in the USA, which I assume will directly or indirecly affect the number of projects being oursourced to India.

All the best.

Amit, we cant decide a company to join just based on finance, corporate matters. I felt CGI is better, based on work culture. No doubt Accenture will have better reputation in name and add more value to the resume. But I their policies are hard to digest. If I have options between CGI and Accenture, I will go for CGI where the work culture, environment will be better. Its my opinion and this may change from one person to other. I will choose a company based on their work culture and not how they are respected in industry. Even Finance status also more important.

I am not sure CGI and CGI-AMS both are same. But CGI is Cananda based company. They have offices in SEEPZ, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Here is the CGI website: http://www.cgi.com/

What criteria for listing in top 10? money, work culture, projects etc?
If you want to join some startup look near Hiranandani complex, some startups have comeup there.EDS has also opened the shop in Malad I believe.ICICI infotech should be good one.If you want better companies I think Pune will be the better option than Mumbai.Hexaware is also good.SEEPZ anyway has lost its charm I believe.

KJ, can you elaborate more on these policies? I'm curious.

I was talking about CGI and Accenure from a strictly US perspective. Maybe its different in India. You are right in saying corporate finance isn't the only thing. BUt direcrtly or indirectly, it will affect the stability of the company and the job in the long run.

That is true. Corporate finance will affect the stability of company as well as employee salary and other things. When you take net turnover definitely big companies like Accenture, IBM will be first. When take a small company their profits may not be comparable with big companies. But the smally coompany's can be good companies. For me to join a company, as long as that company making remarkable profits that is fine in financial view.

I found Accenture HR are very rude when I attended their interview. Also same thing I heard from employees who are working or worked for Accenture. And lot of people in JavaRanch pointed Accenture that. Any way most of them are personal opinions. Some thing good for me may be bad for you.

It is IMR before. Later CGI took over it. IMR is supposed to be one of the good company in SEEPZ. After CGI took over IMR, CGI is not muhc in news. And its average company.

Just a thought - Are'nt these companies about numbers? I mean I have heard from my friend that a typical mail from HR has something like this at the bottom -

' We are 22,212 Strong '

and mails saying that we need to add another 20,000 by the end of the year.
What can we expect from such companies?

I guess it should be good. Two of my friends who are working with Cap Gemini are in US since long time. But it may change from project to project. So you need to check before joining.

I wont suggest PCS, Polaris.

Other big companies I know are:
Siemens Information Systems Ltd.
MBT
Bluestar Infotech
L&T Information Technology

All big companies may not be good to work.

KJ wants to join smartstream it looks like.
I just left that place. Its a good place to make money but after that you wont have any skills left! All the programmers have been doing QA.. There is no Design and architecture work being done there anymore. For a small place the environment is worse than the Rajya Sabha (just too much politics). Be prepared to do QA and bug fixing for the rest of your lives. Cognizant and Kanbe are pretty good places to work at

I gave feed back on Smart Stream based what I heared thru my friends. If I told good about a company that doesnt mean I want to join there

If that is the case shall we assume that you want to join in cognizant and Kanbe

Thats because I heard only good about that company. And my friend who is working now, is pretty happy about that company. Even I had offer from them but didnt go because its in Mumbai. Just now I am hearing negative about Smartstream. So I may not suggest this company next time . Any way thanks for info.
