I live in the Washington, D.C. area. Please advise me the salary ranges for junior, mid, and senior levels of J2EE developers in the formal sector (not in body shops) these days. Because the job market has rebounded for almost two years, I am trying to find out how much employers are willing to pay now factoring in the inflation that we have been experiencing this year.

With a MS degree in Computer Science, you can easily expect a package of 55k-65k for a J2EE position at entry level. (I'm talking about H1-Bs. I am not aware if being a US Citizen fethces you more pay for the same job).

I recently graduated so thats how I know the pay scales that ppl in my university have received from these companies.

Companies that have actively recruited in this area are Sapient, Bearing Point, MicroStrategy, Hughes Telecom, Deloitte, Claraview and lots of defence contractors like Booz Allen, Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman.

Not much idea about mid and senior level positions.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information.

However, I am particularly interested in the salary ranges for the mid- to senior level J2EE developers in the D.C. area.

salary.com is a popular site for this information although its ranges might be a little on the high end.

certmag.com also does a yearly poll of salaries and I think it's a bit more accurate.

If the information on salary.com is a bit on the high end, would you advise approximately by how much it is off? Is it off by USD 5,000 or by USD 10,000 or .... Thank you.
