i have set up a microsoft access driver using my control panel's ODBC Data source Administrator.
it did this successfully.
My program compiles but gives me the followin run time error:

It seems to have a problem with the line:

as i cannot get a print statement to output after this line but before it no problem.
how can i get around this access problem?

Tom,
Welcome to JavaRanch!

It makes sense that the print statement after that line wouldn't display because it is throwing an exception. Can you check that the jar containing that class is in your classpath? (A jar is just a zip file, so you can open it up to check.)

Also, try getting the full stack trace to see if there are any more details about the exception:

He left out the fact that he's using an applet.

3. Can the JDBC-ODBC Bridge be used with applets?

Use of the JDBC-ODBC bridge from an untrusted applet running in a browser, such as Netscape Navigator, isn't allowed.
