hi friends,

i have downloaded classes12.jar file and i have pasted it in the
c:/JDK Folder/jre/lib, but still im gettin the exception

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException racle.jdbc.driver.oracledriver
java.lang.NullPointerException

do i need to set any path and classpath

the present path and classpath are

PATH: E:\oracle\B11\817\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.3.1\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin;C:\sapdb\programs\bin;C:\sapdb\programs\pgm;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;c:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\bin;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\bin

CLASSPATH: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_04\lib;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\j2ee.jar

Im using J2SDK1.4.2_04 and J2EESDK1.3.1

hi friends,

one more thing i have downloaded classes12.zip from oracle link and i have classes12.jar in %ORACLE_HOME% directory..which should i paste and where should i paste..

path is where your executables are
class files are in your classpath.

They are used in two ways -
1. While compiling, it should be there on the classpath -
eg., set classpath=%classpath%;c:\jars\classes12.zip;
Else the files dont get compiled.
2. While executing the file, it needs to be on the classpath too.
For that u place it in jre\lib or on the server lib if u are using a webserver/app server.

sometimes, you also need to have the corresponding Oracle client installed on the machine for the proper execution of file.
