I have an application running in a clustered environment with websphere 5.1
Whenever i look up for a datasource i get this error

Context: FTAHOUE5Network/clusters/marktlegal_cluster, name: jdbc/vlip: First component in name vlip not found.

What does this mean? and how should i resolve this?

Thanks in advance

private static final String jndiName = "jdbc/vlip";

try {
Context context = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
dataSource = (DataSource) context.lookup(jndiName);
firstVisit = false;
} catch (NamingException namingException) {

this code has been working perfectly for another application.

As you mention you have clustered environment,

could you confirm me if datasource you are looking is exisitng on same cluster or another cluster

If datasource is on another machine then you will have to make a small change in your lookup code

Thanks sailesh. Could u send me the code.
Actually the other application that works fine is deployed on both the machines that are part of the cluster. But this one is deployed on just once.

Thanks for your help. The problem got resolved by configuring the datasource on both the clusters. Thanks again Shailesh.

cheers

that is what I wanted to say either have data source on both cluster
or for testing purpose you can configure your look up code to find data source on another cluster

and generally we create initial context by given code, thus by only changing ip we can get handle of another location
