I don't think they will discriminate based on center location.Kolkata, yes nobody likes to open a office there. Its dirty.Go for Chennai or Mumbai.

Most of the IT companies in Kalkota are located in Salt Lake and that area very good compare to Bangalore.

TCS Kolkata centre isn't that bad afterall!!!

It mostly handles database-related projects, mainly using Oracle apps(Integrated development suite) & latest tools like Oracle 11i (admin)!!!

But again it depends in the project you get!!!

Heard that Mumbai centre isn't any better either. 90% of the projects are just maintenance & support-based & one has to be really lucky to get into development or even testing for that matter!!!

Fellow ranchers should be able to throw some more light!!!

TCS Pune has got quite a few quality R&D projects.

I heard it is tough to get in there

You can count yourself lucky if you get into one

Mumbai is the best says my TCS friend.

But again, there are so many TCS centres in Mumbai - SEEPZ, Borivali, Akruti, Nariman Point; where do these stand against each other?

Any TCSers out here??

Trust me on this, They even make tech workers work at BPO's sometimes like my friend is doing now

Lots of onsite and junk work, both go hand in hand

I think all the Products developed by TCS are being done out of Punebut only a Rancher working at TCS can confirm this

I only have anecdotal evidence

All the R&D related works are done at PUNE. TCS has dedicated center for R&D at Pune.

To me Chennai TCS is the best. It contributes more than 30% of the TCS total revenue becoz most of the major projects are execute here. It all depends on where you get allocated.

It entirely depends on the project u get into rather than the location. There are development projects in almost all the locations. As someone said onsite and junk work go hand in hand. If u know some PK/PL in some good project, ask them to pitch for u when u get allocated to a location. Its down to the MATC of the location. Anyway welcome to TCS..

Hey Cheenu!

Looks like you are working with TCS! If yes, at which centre? And can you please let us know the kind of work in general that goes on at your centre wrt the technologies in use?

Thanks in advance!
