I have an application that intermintently slows down. I am trying to trac down the probblems.

I hold open a jdbc connection with the standard JDBC driver from Micro soft.
and call heavy procs that both query and insert alot of records.

I also use apache torque to query on the front end servlet applcaition.

Any ideas ?

Has anyone had probblems with the JDBC driver from MS ?

Shawn,
The first thing to do is figure out whether the problem is in the driver/network or the database/stored proc. You can do this with something as simple as print statements in the code and stored proc.

When the app slows down, are multiple stored procs being run simultaneously? You may have contention and locks on the database causing the slowdown.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
