He said, "4 years experience in developing field"

So, I guess, it is something to do with real estate or agriculture.

Around $30,000 - $40,000 USD would be reasonable compensation.

Biggest question is WHERE in the US.

If it is out in no mans land $50K will make you see like a millionaire. If it is a big tech city $50K will make you look poor.

Its per annum, obviously.

My observation:
With a good degree from US, its not too hard to get 50k-60k /annum on H1. But without an American Masters degree, not many companies will entertain you.

Yes, $18,000+ per month salaries have become very common lately for UNIX admins.

Thats $216k per annum !
CTO's of companies get that kind of pay, not UNIX admins!
Whats the name of his company ?
Id like to apply there !

Seriously, some information is missing somewhere! I refuse to believe that a UNIX admin on H1 can get $200k plus. Unless hes a hardcore researcher from MIT and the likes maybe. Even then!!! Just not possible.

I second that, from whatever little I know -- getting more than USD 70k is a BIG deal these days for H1B.
